Dear Friends,
Everywhere I go there's great concern about the war with Iraq, and rightly so. Anxiety is concern for future; and depression is not feeling empowered. There's
a lot of both going around.
It's a different world these days. Terrorism and nuclear threats are daily news. How do we deal with this? Become complacent, or an activist? There is a middle ground. We (and I mean all of
us) can realize that we're responsible for what we put into the world. Our actions and words have a ripple effect whether it comes back to us, impacts another human being, or affects future generations. Patience,
communication, maturity, and negotiation are called for.
Last newsletter I talked about planning. It's human nature to procrastinate. We seem to be waiting on some day (I'll start that project), sometime (as if
there's any more hours available to us), and somehow (lack of action doesn't accomplish much). If I may offer a suggestion—don't put off to tomorrow what you can do today. Sound familiar? It's still good advice.
How
does all this relate? Instead of feeling hopeless, take 15 minutes a day and do something kind and generous for another person. It can be as simple as open the phone book and send a card (even an electronic card) to
someone you don't know (let them know your intent so they aren't frightened), take the time to talk with a stranger in the grocery store (and offer you're favorite, uplifting quote), or drop off a teddy bear at a
senior's center.
If a fear of it not going well is keeping you from doing something (and this applies to anything), let me share my definition of failure with you. Failure isn't making mistakes; it's not learning from
the experience. Let your imagination guide you as to what you're comfortable with. Ask them to pay it forward (just like the movie, which means they need to pass along the kindness). Give a gift of love today, and don't
expect anything back (or it wouldn't be a gift).
Feng Shui is about flow. Communication, consequences, and worry are helped by water. Not having done an analysis on your home or office, let me suggest putting a water
fountain in the Northwest this year. NW represents head males (leaders of countries), a clash this year of stars that cause injuries by metal objects (guns and bombs), and the presence of a fighting star. Sound like the
Iraq and Korea situations? See this month's article on water fountains to help you choose an effective one.
