* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Don't Be Fooled! There was a famous Feng Shui practitioner in town. I was thrilled to secure an appointment
with her because I wanted to learn something new from an expert. My goal was to discover all the wonderful gems of knowledge that could be had in an hour (at a cost of $350). Even though I attended her
all-day workshop (of a dozen people), she arrived by talking about her famous clients and where she lives (the most affluent, exclusive community in her area of the state) for about 20 minutes while sipping her personal
tea. Anyone who knows me knows I love to entertain, and most guests don't leave without partaking of something (or taking something with them). This is standard Asian etiquette (and she's Asian), yet there wasn't
anything I could bestow to honor her. Be that as it may, I had no doubt of her influence or credentials. Finally she took the compass and headed for the front door. I work with masters, but not in my own
home…how exciting! She placed the compass directly against the door to take the reading. Compasses work on magnetism (and our door is metal), so I shared the door's composition with her thinking she didn't notice. She
was insulted that I'd question her, and said it was a special compass not affected by metal. Anyone see a flaw brewing? The reading was off by several degrees (because I take new readings each year as poles
shift), and so our house was diagnosed as a Chien trigram (it's Tui-facing, making it Chen). Then, based on my husband's and my birth dates, she instructed that we're earth and metal people (we're both wood). I asked
how that was derived. "It's the lunar formula," (same one that I use). She critiqued our bed (for sleeping directions) and prepared for her driver to arrive. Her visit lasted 40 minutes and then
she was gone. I was very disappointed. Then I remembered my goal. Being a project manager, I measure success by objectives established at the beginning. Did I discover what someone obtained in a $350 hour? Yes, not that
I could use it. Someone else might have followed recommendations blindly. What I learned from the experience was: 1) Understand why you are doing something before doing it. 2) Questions are a good thing.
Someone is interested and wants to learn. A good consultation is based on collaboration. 3) An hourly fee is limiting for the client and practitioner. I do for free what she did for $350. Maybe that will need to change
over time (as demand increases) but I think it's important that a client understand up front what they can expect, and how the consult will flow. There's more freedom to converse when an hourly fee isn't an issue. I lose a lot of business because people like the concept of an hourly fee (based on their budget). I price by the project, and whatever it takes to perform quality work for the client or the structure is
just what it takes. There's a new-construction project that we've been working on since 2002. I estimate thus far 100 hours has gone into it. That would be $35,000 or 7% of the project. My fee is less than 1% to build
the best energy, owner-compatible home for the client. Which do you think is the bargain? To summarize, I'm grateful to have had the experience. It helped to improve my best practices. In the end, I did get
gems of wisdom! Return to top.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Question of the Month This month's question comes from Franca and Giovanni (Italians residing in Venezuela) ask
"...we want to get married. Are there better days than others in January?" Yes!
- There are good and bad energy days.
- There are days better for particular activities, and days to avoid for those activities.
- There are good and bad days for us as individuals (based on our birth date).
If you have an important occasion to schedule or attend, it's worth researching energy patterns. Walt Disney and others have successfully run their empires using this information. Best wishes Franca and
Giovanni! Return to top.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * What's New or Different? Toll-free number is 1-866-689-6891.
- Good days for December are posted.
- Chinese brush paintings are now offered on the web site under
feng shui products, and we're soon to accept credit-card payments (at your request).

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Honoring Ourselves and Others During November there are observances for diabetes, epilepsy, lung cancer, adoption,
American-Indian heritage, authors, hospice, impotency, run-away prevention, pursuit of happiness, O.R. nurses, education, geography, better conversation, and family. Clients who receive this newsletter can attest to
positive Feng Shui influences on these topics, or for these groups. If you have a women or men's group, dinner event, or want to host a Feng Shui brown-bag lunch to honor coworkers or an observance…let's
schedule something. People find the topic fun and interesting. Share your abundance! A testimonial: "I was my boss' secretary, and now I have his job!" Thanks to Theresa
Leonard-Wilkinson of W-edge design who maintains my web site. Due to her amazing knowledge about search engines and websites, Intuitive Concept's website is averaging 650 hits a day. People write from all over the globe
(New Zealand, Australia, England, Quebec, Germany, etc.). Thank to you…readers and clients. I haven't been keeping abreast of monthly newsletters, articles, and contacts recently. I had a full-time role
with a Fortune 100 company, and Mom was visiting. She said this is her last trip to Ohio (she's 80), and so I stopped the busy-ness and was present to her. I hope you understand, and I'm back! be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Will perform research, compile data, and schedule appointments. Work hours and location are flexible. My desire is to build a great company…one that's a
joy to work with and for. A Wang Shan/Wang Shui structure honors people and attracts abundance of all forms. That will also apply in our staffing and business principles. If you have insights to help that along, I'd
appreciate your coaching. Return to top.~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
