Proposed Feng Shui Legislation for Building Standards

Bill ACR 144 was introduced in California (link), and proposes Feng Shui be incorporated into building standards. This is heavenly news as Feng Shui honors the structure and its occupants, and brings about harmony and balance.

Notice the Bill highlights a focus on Earth and energies-the science of Feng Shui (versus decorating and other popular interpretations). Imagine working and living in buildings that encourage peace, supportive relationships, focus (debt-free emotionally and financially), productivity (that's a win/win for companies and employees), and joy.

The world can use more of that! Need I say more?

Question of the Month

Question of the month: "You mentioned in the January newsletter that it is not a good idea to spend a lot of time in the SW part of your house this year. What should one do if the SW is both a family room on the first floor and my son's bedroom on the second floor?"

Answer: The SW this year has a two-energy pattern (sickness) starting on 2/4/04. In addition, SW is Tai Sui this year. Misfortune can be easily aroused. That SW represents head females (their health), relationships, and loyalty--we need to be cautious this year. Be conservative regarding health concerns (take care of yourself and don't procrastinate if you have a concern). Also, give special care (patience and attention) to your mate as extramarital affairs can arise.

As you already know from the article, 2004 has a five energy pattern starting in February. Five combined with two is the worse combination in classic Feng Shui. Not having done an analysis on your home, my recommendation is generic (meaning it may or not be what's really needed).

If you follow the element wheel; you know that fire feeds earth, earth feeds metal, metal feeds water, water feeds wood, and wood feeds fire. That's called the productive cycle. When reversed, it's called the reductive cycle, and that's what we need to do -- reduce the double earth energies (2 and 5) by using metal.

Consider changing your son's room for the year, and having family gatherings elsewhere. But if that's just not possible, use a metal remedy in the SW on all levels. Something that moves is best (moving metal) but avoid metal wind chimes inside, and avoid fans.

A client testimonial: A client testimonial: "Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into teaching classes here at the Community Library. I know the students learn a lot and have an enjoyable time in the process. You help to enrich our community and make it a better place in which to live." Mary, Adult Services Director

This month we're sponsoring a necklace by designer, Ginny Neumann, for your Valentine!

The 2" round stone is carved serpentine set upon an antique Chinese coin. The bronze symbol represents the goddess. Earth and metal elements are represented. It's $86 plus tax and shipping. This and other selections are available on the web site.

Resource Recommendations

How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas by David Bornstein. Social entrepreneurs have existed throughout history. St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan Order, would qualify as a social entrepreneur -- having built multiple organizations that advanced pattern changes in his "field." Similarly, Florence Nightingale created the first professional school for nurses and established standards for hygiene and hospital care that have shaped norms worldwide. What is different today is that social entrepreneurship is developing into a mainstream vocation, not only in the United States, Canada, and Europe, but increasingly in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In fact, the rise of social entrepreneurship represents the leading edge of a remarkable development that has occurred across the world over the past three decades: the emergence of millions of new citizen organizations.

Tip of the Month

Tip of the Month: Avoid disturbing the earth and performing construction in the NE, South, SE, and SW directions beginning February 4 to February 4, 2005. If this is unavoidable, protect your health by using the metal element inside and out. Place metal inside in the needed direction, and metal outside (between the construction site and your building) until the project is over.
