Resolutions for 2004

Happy New Year (Gregorian calendar)! What plans are you making for a more satisfying life? Are you -- Embracing new health patterns? Creating or reinventing a relationship? Reducing debt and increasing income? Good for you! As with many New Years resolutions, staying diligent is the hardest part, and this year will especially challenging to stay the course and be focused.

I'm a firm believer that information is only power when it's shared. Read through the article on 2004 and anticipate what may come up for you. Research your Chinese astrology sign to maximize good periods, and make choices about bad periods. Look at more than one site for this information, as there can be conflicts. For instance, some say it's a good year for Dragons (that's me), and some say it's not a good year. Being that the Monkey (2004) is a trickster anyway, I'm leaning toward caution. If you don't know what your Chinese astrology sign is, send me your birth date (month, day and year).

Some get nervous about predictions, but to me they create choice. It's no different than knowing funds will be particularly lean one month -- I spend less now. If I know that breaking ground in a certain area of my yard can kick up bad luck, I can avoid it or take precautions.

Additional information for 2004 (from the article) is the Grand Duke moves to the SW in early February. That means the SW is not an area to travel to (U.S.), spend time in (your home or office), or disturb (your yard).

It's highly unlikely that tourism and construction will come to a stand still, so months to be extra careful are February, April, August, and November. How do I know that? 2004 has a five-energy pattern. Five is the worst number to deal with (catastrophe) in the floating-stars system. Certain numbers that combine with it make it more powerful such as two (sickness) and nine (enhancer).

Months also have energy patterns. For 2004 they are: January 3, February 2, March 1, April 9, May 8, June 7, July 6, August 5, September 4, October 3, November 2, and December 1; thus

February=2 + 2004=5; April=9 + 5; August=5 + 5; November=2 + 5

These are months to stay close to home, drive defensively, watch your health, and avoid breaking the ground. I entered this in my calendar, and hope this helps with your planning efforts!

Question of the Month

Question of the month: "There are so many places that sell Feng Shui merchandise-how do I know which one is best, and what to buy?"

Answer: Save yourself time and money-don't buy one-size-fits-all Feng Shui cures or confusing do-it-yourself Feng Shui books. The term "Feng Shui" is used as a marketing gimmick to sell everything from trinkets to haircuts. Classic Feng Shui is a science that works with five elements only (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) as remedies for transforming energy patterns. There are NO prepackaged Feng Shui remedies! The "art" aspect of classic Feng Shui is used to implement necessary remedies as beautiful accessories (that complement the chosen décor).

Many who have little or no Feng Shui training or experience are securing lucrative book deals and claiming to be experts. Feng Shui is up and coming, and subject to abuse. Classic Feng Shui is a precise science that takes years of practice. Unfortunately, there are no governing guidelines to prevent anyone from calling themselves a Feng Shui Master or promoting anything as a Feng Shui cure. The Chinese science of Acupuncture was once as misunderstood as Feng Shui, before it became regulated. Personally, I look forward to the day when a license to practice Feng Shui is required!

I'm not a fan of replacing one type of clutter for another. The bottom line is only introduce a remedy (or corrective) when you understand its appropriate use and purpose. Don't implement something just because a book or person says to do so. Feng Shui is a lifestyle, and you're more likely to embrace it when you understand what's behind a change. Statues and trinkets don't bring you wealth, love, and health…you do that by understanding energies at work, and making the right choices.

A client testimonial: "My husband has not had a Grand Mal seizure since 2001. There have been very minor ones, but they aren't as serious or frequent. At this time, we believe surgery is no longer necessary. My husband's seizure disorder only improved after making changes in our Ohio home based on Feng Shui. He hasn't done anything medically different. We've since had Diana evaluate our ranch in Scottsdale, and make suggestions for my breast cancer and liver problems."

Resource Recommendations

Final Gifts by Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelley was suggested by Carol Oswald of Ohio Massage Therapy Professionals. This book helps us to understand the special awareness, needs, and communications of the dying. It's hard to know how to help, what to do, and what to say; yet if we know how to listen and what to look for, the dying often supply the answers. These richly told stories enable us to respond in new and authentic ways.

If you have a book, verse, or music that you'd like to recommend please send me an eMail. Time permitting, I'll review it and pass along your generosity.

Help Wanted

Administrative and public relations help needed. Need to be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Will perform research, compile data, and schedule appointments. Work hours and location are flexible.

These aren't salaried positions at this point, but will consider barter for services. My desire is to build a great company…one that's a joy to work with and for. A Wang Shan/Wang Shui structure honors people and attracts abundance of all forms. That will also apply in our business and staffing ethics. If you have insights to help that along, I'd appreciate your coaching.

Tip of the Month

Tip of the Month: The Grand Duke moves to the Southwest in early February. Take extra precautions if you must travel to the SW, and avoid construction in the SW of your lot. See January's newsletter column for more detail.
