* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Monthly Column: 2006 Fire Energy and Health If it's
confusing to you on when the New Years actually starts, you aren't alone. The Gregorian calendar is the calendar that is used in the USA going from January 1st to December 31st. The Chinese
Lunar calendar is when Asian cultures celebrate the New Year. This is used for determining your animal sign and can range from January 21st to February 20th. This year it is January 29th.
Feng Shui uses the Chinese Solar calendar. This is used for determining your trigram and can occur on February 4th or 5th. This year it is February 4th. There's been great
feedback about our articles regarding 2006's energy. Thank you! This month's column expands on 2006 a bit more. This is the year of the fire dog. Fire inflames (heats up) disease and areas of the body associated with
fire (from a Chinese medicine perspective). If you notice a change in any of these areas (tongue, cheeks, shoulders, heels, upper arms, chest, heart, and small intestine) consult a medical professional. Traditional
Chinese Medicine (also known as TCM), including acupuncture, are fields that address fire areas of the body.
Dr. Peter Sheng is speaking in Northern Kentucky on these topics on June 3rd, and I'll be covering Feng Shui.Fire is associated with a
bitter, spicy taste. When cooking a way to honor this energy (if it's right for you) is by serving vegetables such as radicchio, chard or dandelion. Spices may include salt, juniper, paprika, and turmeric. Red wine can
be served but watch your alcohol consumption and liver this year. Think about Chinese astrology animals in their natural habitat. Whereas 2005's rooster was focused (and sometimes demanding), 2006's dog is
friendly and a protector. The dog (as an earth animal in a Chinese astrology fire year) tends to be nurturing and loyal. As I mentioned in last month's article 2006 Chinese Astrology, the dragon is opposite the dog. So, 2006 is a challenging year for
the dragon. But challenge today brings opportunity tomorrow. It's a time to plant seeds!Back to the 2006 fire energy--from a Feng Shui perspective summer represents the fire season and those who benefit
most are earth people because fire feeds earth (see article, Trigram & Kua Numbers). Since fire conflicts with water, products represented by water energy will be under produced and this will affect their price. During spring, illnesses affecting the liver
and gall bladder may appear. During summer protect your small intestine and heart. Late summer and fall can affect indigestion, lungs, and large intestine. Winter brings us to kidneys and bladder. If
you're personal fire energy is low, you're probably loosing momentum midday. In addition to each season (and element) being associated with a season, it is also associated with a time of day. If you'd like to know more
about your element levels (having or lacking them), we can help you. Keep in mind its winter in the U.S. Winter is yin (resting) energy and a time for us to recharge. Animals and trees hibernate…its natural. If you find you're sleeping
more, take this opportunity to recharge and renew. If you're fighting it, you won't have needed energy when the fire season happens. Like anything keep and don't over do it.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Question of the Month: How can Feng Shui bring me health and wealth? Dr. Lewis.
This is a two-part answer. First, Feng Shui isn't a magic bullet (a one-size-fits-all solution to the problem of an individual, building, or the world). It's one tool in a toolbox. Feng Shui does,
however, increase the probability of good things happening or improving after proper diagnosis and implementation of remedies. As an example, if there's negative energy in the NW of your home this can affect you (as
head male), cause head problems, or promote loneliness. When that energy is transformed you may experience relief of symptoms, feel more empowered, and more connected with others. I use the word 'remedy' rather than
'corrective.' Correcting something implies it is broke and needs to be fixed. Energy is what it is, and sometimes needs to be experienced; whereas 'remedy' implies we're making it better…honoring it for what it is but
elevating it to work in a way that's better for us. Make sense? Second, anyone who places an object (wind chime or a money frog as examples) inside the front door and does little else to invoke positive
changes in their life will be sadly disappointed. It is better to be in action—helping to make a shift happen; whatever that entails (interviewing, seeking medical or legal advice, networking, etc.). Thank you for the
question. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Tip of the Month: Five-energy month On February 5,
2006, we move into a five-energy month. This is a time to be conservative. I personally try to avoid travel during a five-energy month. On one trip that couldn't be rescheduled, I was stalked and someone tried to break
into my hotel room (while I was in it)! During a five-energy month be aware of your surroundings and follow your instincts. Auto accidents can increase, so be present to driving; minimize multi-tasking (cell phones).
Jim and Lorrie shared that using a cell phone while driving has the same affect as driving when drinking. Have you swerved when reaching for your phone, dialing or talking? I have and now rarely use my cell phone when
driving. Safety is worth postponing a call. Thanks for the tip Jim and Lorrie! Be responsible and anticipate others' actions. Again, I don't offer these potential situations to scare anyone. This
information is meant to help you mitigate and possibility avoid negative circumstances…to choose a path of least resistance. One definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect different
results. Consider that days which don't have great energy produce fewer results with more effort. Have you had days where you work twice as hard but didn't have twice the reward? Five earth and three
wood are not compatible energies. This five-earth month combined with a three hard-wood year implies illness (especially for the eldest son), money loss, and deception. We need to pay attention to young
people in general. Stop, listen, observe, clarify, and mentor. Be involved. As a mother and grandparent, I know children grow up all too fast. Sometimes youth don't realize the long-term implications of a spontaneous
decision. I was young once…the stories I could share (wink). I have no regrets, but we can't turn back time and relive a time that can produce regret. Since it's a tiger month (from a Chinese astrology
perspective), monkeys are not empowered. All astrology signs experience up and down periods; however, consider a date analysis for you and your loved ones. Minimize your effort and obtain maximum results! Many people
use the analysis for yearly planning and schedule activities around the results. Jasmin is utilizing a family trip to Taiwan in a way that will plant seeds for a business shift. She wouldn't have known to do this
without analyzing her energy and dates. The date analysis is invaluable especially when it comes to maximizing results, travel, and health and safety concerns. Call us for an estimate. Good days for February
