This Issue's Article
Children and Chores School will let out soon, and Spring is here. It's a time to think creatively … whether that's planting or how our
children will spend their summer vacation. I met with a client recently to discuss their landscaping. Due to funds, they have decided to do the labor themselves. Their main concern was digging as this
activity is one that is physically challenging for many of us. I suggested he enroll his son. He laughed, saying any chore he asks his son to perform becomes such a battle that it is easier to do it himself. Sound
familiar? Well, if whining about it enough gets a child out of it, guess what… it worked and they'll continue that pattern. Can you teach a young dog new tricks (or an old dog a new twist). Yes, you can!
Allow me first to begin by saying that paying your child an allowance to perform chores also establishes a pattern. I believe that's an area that we (and I include myself here) have set the stage for instant
gratification. CEOs have been queried regarding the new work force. One of their complaints is that our youth not only want premium starting wages, but a bonus for showing up for work. We can teach our children that
their contribution is part of the whole—meaning, as a household member they need to help maintain the household. As a human on this planet, we need to help maintain it. It goes without saying that some adults could
learn this lesson too, but I digress. Now, allowances may not apply to teens, as they need to learn money management. Parents (and schools) would do well to teach teens how to save, budget, spend, and invest. Help them
learn lessons that we didn't (thus why credit card debt is so high). So, a few tips to make chores fun:
- Place treasures under piles of clothes, stacks of papers, heaps of toys, or even simply under things to be dusted. Treasurers are in the eye of the beholder, in other words whatever a treasure would be for that
child. How about a gift certificate for an afternoon with you to do whatever they want? Of course, be prepared for what may come, and you may be delighted at their creativity. Take this opportunity to teach them
about SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely). Avoid using money or food, and try to accommodate their request within a few days. This method will fail if you never get around to
honoring their request.
- Some people are list people and some aren't, still it is a good idea to show children the concepts of tracking and accomplishment. Create a list of chores for each child and as they complete a task, mark their
list with a smiley face or star. If all tasks are complete by the end of the week, present them with a ribbon of some sort (example, one that says "I make a difference"), a certificate, or a movie of their
choice (and make it a family night).
- Have a race. Set a timer for 8 minutes. The child who places displaced items into their rightful place wins. Another idea can be for you to identify items that need to be gathered (trash, recycling, items to be
donated, etc.) and whoever collects the most in that time wins.
- This is one that I read on an article at MSN.com. Appoint someone to be Inspector D. Clutter. Armed with a laundry basket and plastic police badge from the dress-up box, this person roams the house and puts
stray belongings into clutter "jail" (the basket). To set an item free, its owner (Mom and Dad included!) must do a chore.
It's up to us to build our support team and our children can be an integral part of it. I find most people (adults and children) really do want to help but sometimes don't know how. We need to keep in
mind that children, as part of their learning process, experiment with commands, boundaries, and rules. Show them healthy ways to deal with all of them. Let me know how the tips work for you.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Tip of the Month On June 6, the flying star is 4 and brings in soft wood energy. In a water year, this implies that females should get ready for
romance! The flip side of that implies that every female is looking so be sure to stay true. This also is a good time to learn something new. Hit the books and be creative.
2008 is a challenging year for Horses. This period goes from 2/4/08 to 2/5/09. For more information see our article 2008 Eclipses and Moons. If you have an important decision to make (or action to take) be sure and consult with us for a good day. Energy Days This Month
- Mercury Retrograde – 5/26 – 6/18
Lunar eclipse – None for June
Solar eclipse – None for June
New moon – 6/03 generally good to start new projects
Full moon – 6/18 generally good to wrap up a project. Not good for surgery or medical procedures due to risk of increased bleeding. Also, bulbs planted during a full moon produce better results!

Please welcome Jacquie Towler to the IC team.
Jacquie is graduating from high school, and was done (so to speak) early. To complete, she chose to perform a walk-about (internship). Interested in Feng Shui, she researched and selected us. The walk-about started in January and ends May 31. Our approach to Feng Shui touches many endeavors she is interested in: the environment and how we react to it, being a responsible citizen of Mother Earth, helping others (people and animals), wellness, leadership, business, design, etc. It's been a win/win scenario so Jacquie joins us upon graduation, and will continue to pursue a traditional education at Columbus State.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Testimonies, Good News, Quotes and more My husband and I called Diana to do an analysis of our home. My husband wasn't sure
about it, but seeing how important it was to me he encouraged me to call and go ahead with it. I have to admit I wasn't sure what all it would entail or how much it could change all aspects of our lives. When Diana
first came to our home to meet us and get the necessary information for her to do our analysis, she gave us some preliminary things we could do very inexpensively right away. She told us that due to the energy of our
home we needed moving metal on our East wall, both on the first and second floor. I was baffled at first but she suggested a wall clock with a continuous moving pendulum. That will work (we thought) so as soon as she
left we started shopping. The critical issue we wanted a change with was for our oldest sons (even though they did not live with us). Well, we found one to fit the décor on the first floor and got it up in time
for a visit from my son. Within 2 weeks to a month after applying the remedy, the area he needed to change in his life was starting to shift. He slowly regained his self-esteem and confidence (that had been basically
robbed from him) and his life started to turn around. In the mean time we had found and implemented the remedy upstairs with a clock on the East wall of our master bedroom. That's when we almost panicked. My husband's
son (who is much younger and living with his mother) was admitted to the behavior health center at the hospital. We wondered why the moving metal remedy worked so well for one and not the other. He was only there
for about three days and much to our surprise it had done a world of good for him. The remedies that we implemented worked! We also realized that while it did fix things with their personal and emotional struggles, they
still have a journey back to who they are. That's why Diana says that Feng Shui is one tool in our toolbox. It has been amazing to see the changes over the last 6 months as communications with both sons is
better, and they are much stronger emotionally. They had been robbed of that based on our analysis, just like her analysis confirmed something else … our home was broken into and robbed within nine months of
purchasing it. We've addressed this energy now. I watch and listen closely now to make sure our "moving metal" clocks are always running. We still have other things to do in our home, but as we work on
implementing each remedy we see things changing for us and our loved ones. Thank you, Diana! D & N Ohio Would you like to talk to a client about how classical Feng Shui helped them reach
