- The size of a desk (or study/homework area) should be proportionate to the person's needs…not too large (implies not enough to do and easy to be distracted) and not too small (implies overload). Instead of a
pile of books and paper heaped up to remind us of all that needs to be done, just display what needs to be worked on for the assignment at hand. The space should be clutter free.
